Located outside of Gotham City, the Wayne family presided in their own personal residence, a sprawling mansion. The Wayne Manor was inhabited for about five to six generations, currently with Bruce Wayne and is managed by Alfred Pennyworth. Wayne's Great Great Grandfather was part of the Underground Railroad and aided slaves in their escape from the South. He utilized a series of underground caverns beneath Wayne Manor, home to bats. Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth explored the cavern and decided it would serve as base of operations for Batman. However, Ra's al Ghul soon surfaced, ready to execute his latest plan. In return for burning down his sanctuary in Asia, Ra's burned down Wayne's home. The foundation remained intact and Pennyworth urged Wayne to rebuild and perhaps strenghten a certain wing of the Manor.
