Following his ninja training, Bruce Wayne incorporated many aspects of it in the Batman identity. One was that of the Batarang, a bat-shaped throwing star. It mainly serves a theatric purpose to disarm and distract opponents but also serves as a method of offense rather than using a firearm which Wayne vowed to never use. Using dummy corporations, Wayne ordered material and shaped the Batarangs within the confines of the Batcave.
