Flyod Lawton built up a reputation in the criminal underworld as the world's greatest marksman for hire. As Deadshot, he accepts only the most challenging and highest paid contracts. He is known to be able to assassinate a target from as far as 2000 meters away. Deadshot leaves a calling card where he positions himself, the empty engraved shell casing used for the kill.
Deadshot became a frequent associate of the gang lord known as the Russian. Deadshot took out many who stood in the way of the Russian and his men, directly or indirectly. Mayor Manning, Teresa Williams and Robert Conner were among the victims. Their largest difficulty became Batman. Deadshot was intrigued and spread a false rumor that Lieutenant Gordon was his target to lure out Batman. Batman amazingly deflected the bullet intended for Gordon, survived a direct shot and defeated Deadshot. Thanks to a recovered PDA owned by one Ronald Marshall, Deadshot was connected to previous assassinations and stood to face the death penalty.
