Suzie Sunshine is a young idealist who joined the Hairies, a group of like minded individuals. In May 1967, she went to a concert in New York City with Guitar Joe and Doctor Psycho. Despite a similar episode prior, Suzie took some acid and suffered a bad trip. She claimed to see demons and ran off into an alley. Bekka found Suzie and used Mother Box to bleed the nightmares out of her mind. She soon joined the group of Hairies that looked to Bekka for guidance after some of the more antiquated beliefs wore thin. Bekka had Mother Box create crystals designed to work as a channel that helped people expand their consciousness without the use of drugs. After Bekka discovered Joe and Psycho's secret, she was doused in an elixir and hallucinated she was in the fused ruins of New Genesis and Apokolips. Suzie stood up to Bekka and calmed her with her ineffable qualities. The Hairies split off after that night. Suzie left with Bekka's group and started a new commune called New New Genesis.
In a few months, the commune made great strides. Suzie was proud of what they accomplished. After Bekka saved Joe and the burnouts from Psycho's experiments, Suzie joined the group that searched for Psycho's lab. After finding corpses, Bekka concluded she needed to stop hiding away. Suzie asked Bekka never to forget the Hairies. Bekka replied she couldn't since they would always be in her heart.
