Silas Stone is a graduate of Gotham University and was part of a clique of students who studied under Dr. Lex Luthor and were informally known as "Luthor's boys." Stone worked for the government and President Waller. He was one of the scientists recruited to Project Fair Play, a secret program dedicated to perfecting methods to neutralize the Justice League if needed. While working at Gotham University as a visiting professor in the Physics Department, Stone was hired by Superman to help him attempt to extract the heavily damaged computer files from the ship he came to Earth in as an infant. Stone found Superman to be very matter of fact. He even got to see Wonder Woman, too.

That night, Stone retired to his lab and resumed work on a project that involved arm blasters while telling his son Victor all about the Justice League. Just as Stone was going to talk about Wonder Woman, Will Magnus' Superdroid dropped into the lab and fired its heat vision at them. Stone told Victor to run. He put on his arm blasters and returned fire on the droid. The droid tossed what it could find at Stone but Victor returned with a compact RPG launcher. Victor soon ran out of ammo and ran to his father. The Superdroid powered up and leveled the lab, killing the Stones instantly. Only their skeletons were left. Since Stone worked for the government, President Waller sent Steve Trevor to investigate. Batman sneaked into Stone's office at Gotham University and copied his computer files. He found an email about Project Fair Play and questioned Will Magnus about it. Superman was implicated in Stone's death because of the heat vision used by the droid.
