Darkseid is leader of the New Gods of Apokolips. He was said to sire countless bastard sons in a line of endless betrayal. After a thousand years of warfare, Darkseid agreed to a peace treaty that would be cemented by the marriage of Bekka of New Genesis and one of his sons, Orion. He formally welcomed the New Genesis delgation to Apokolips for the wedding. After the wedding's conclusion the next day, Highfather attacked Darkseid with his staff. Overloaded with the staff's energies, Darkseid's head imploded.
