The Metropolis Central Station was once targeted by the Chaos Society. With no demands nor hostages taken, the nihilists opened fire on everyone in the station. Superman arrived and executed them with his heat vision. S.W.A.T. teams converged on the station but they were too late. Survivors ran out of the station. Superman soon emerged and made sure he was in the spotlight. Lois Lane spoke up and asked him where he got the right to be judge, jury, and executioner. Superman told her to look at the mounds of bodies inside the station then tell him he was wrong to act. At least 14 people died and another dozen were wounded. The event stirred up debate about Superman again, among scientists, philosophers, theologians, senators, the intelligence community, military, and the White House.
