Ellis is a town located in Nebraska. Kirk Langstrom was born and raised in Ellis. Because of his high intelligence, Langstrom quickly became an outcast and was bullied. After receiving a scholarship to Gotham University, Langstrom left. Years later, after he cured himself of cancer and became vampiric, he returned to Ellis upon taking his first victim. However, Langstrom was rejected by his parents and got into an altercation in Swifty's with an old antagonist, Harv, who married his ex-girlfriend Francine. Langstrom left Ellis with the realization he was too dangerous and unpredictable to be around people.
