Rupert Thorne is a Gotham crime lord who set out to conquer the city's underworld with his friend Lew Moxon at a young age. Moxon, however, believed he was the one who conquered Gotham and Thorne was along for the ride. Years later, during a meeting of Gotham's crime families, Moxon accused Thorne of betraying him by skimming prostitution profits. Thorne insisted it was small change but Moxon's mind was made up. Thorne shot himself in the head.
