One year into his marriage with Tina, Will Magnus snapped at her constant insistence on curing their friend Kirk Langstrom and hit her. She fell and struck her head on a table, dying instantly. Magnus became unhinged and realized he had to change the world. He would do so by linking every human's mind with a Nanite Bomb. He kept Tina's death a secret and created a "twin" to take her place utilizing a platinum isotope that could mimic human flesh. For years, Platinum posed perfectly as Tina and even fooled Langstrom. As part of his master plan, Magnus needed to get into the Tower of Justice to power his bomb with Superman's space ship. After an elaborate series of events leading to the murders of fellow scientists who worked with Magnus on Project Fair Play, a secret program aimed at neutralizing the Justice League, the remaining scientists met to decide what to do next together. Will and Platinum, as Tina, Magnus attended. "Tina" was seemingly murdered by the Wonderdroid and Magnus was incinerated.
While the attention was all on the government confronting the Justice League, who was framed for the murders, Tina left the morgue where the scientists were kept and infiltrated the Tower. She appeared to Batman as Tina. While he stood in shock, Platinum extended her right arm and slammed Batman to the ground then Tin restrained him. Platinum walked to the infirmary and injected Magnus with organic nanites. Magnus was instanty healed and continued with his plans. Platinum, the three droids and Magnus went to work on connecting the Nanite Bomb. Thanks to Superman's assault on the shield outside, Batman was able to get loose and powered down the shield. While Superman fought the droids, Batman confronted Magnus and decked Platinum but she tossed him and prepared to impale him.
Wonder Woman intervened and threw an uppercut that launched her to the upper level. As the fight went on, Platinum kept regenerating and even merged with parts that were sliced off. Platinum sliced Wonder Woman's back but was knocked on her back and stabbed. Platinum generated several spikes from her body and shredded Wonder Woman. However, her sword was stuck in Platinum. Wonder Woman grabbed the pommel, activated Mother Box, and boomed Platinum into the Sun.
