Jayd is the home planet of the Golden Dragon. The fearsome organization met its match in a Khundian invasion. Many perished, even its Green Lantern. The ring chose Laira Omoto who sent out a distress call answered by the Corps. Kentor Omoto, leader of the Golden Dragon, sought to regain his honor and pro-actively neutralized all threats to Jayd. However, in the process, Jayd became an outlaw planet ruled by a paramilitary authority. About a year before Krona's return, Laira was assigned her first solo mission. She was to investigate Jayd, her homeworld, which was declared hostile by the Guardians of the Universe. Laira was forced to fight her family and watched as her father committed ritual suicide to restore his honor. The remaining forces of the Golden Dragon submitted to Laira's authority.
