At a time when only the Guardians of the Universe were the only sentient beings, they built the Green Lantern Battery. The Green Element was housed inside. It was then placed on their homeworld, Oa. Since then, the building is heavily guarded. The Green Battery became the source of energy for all Green Lantern's power rings and contains all knowledge of the universe. A Lantern must think about what they want to know then place their ring inside the Battery. During Krona's return to the positive matter universe, the Central Power Battery was relocated after every Green Lantern recharged their ring. Eventually, the battery was placed on Mogo who agreed to serve as a temporary base until a new Oa could be built.
