Kentor Omoto saw the ruling council of Jayd as weak and disreputable. He founded the Golden Dragon, a paramilitary group, to make sure peace was maintained for all. Omoto had a son, Rubyn, and a daughter, Laira. He trained both to be great warriors. However, when Jayd needed him the most, Omoto failed and his group was defeated during a Khundian invasion. In a moment of desperation, he reached out to the power ring of a fallen Green Lantern but it chose his daughter.
Omoto sought to regain his honor and rebranded the mandate of the Golden Dragon. It became more pro-active and actively slaughtered its enemies, including Khunds. As a result, Omoto became an authoritative tyrant and shaped Jayd into a hostile world. At some point, he took on a member of the Golden Dragon, Ree'Yu, as his mistress. Eventually, the Guardians of the Universe sought to restore order on Jayd and dispatched Laira Omoto. She defeated her father. He accepted she was a more worthy warrior than he and committed ritual suicide to regain his lost honor.
