The Batsignal is a modified searchlight used by Commissioner Gordon to alert Batman of a major crime. On Robin's first night, the Batsignal was activated in reaction to the Joker Gang's robbery of the Gotham First National Bank and later the appearance of a giant jack-in-the-box at the Gotham Treasury. When Batman and the Super Friends were captured by the Legion of Doom, Cyborg used the Batsignal to meet up with Robin and plan a rescue.
