The Quantum Trigger is a detonator made of pure energy designed and created by Owlman to set off the Quantum Eigenstate Device. Alexander Luthor's Justice League stole it and stored it in their main base of operations but it was compromised and taken over by the Crime Syndicate. In a last ditch effort, the surviving members, The Jester and Luthor stormed their base and stole back the Trigger. Luthor then teleported to a parallel Earth and alerted the Justice League to his presence. While the League deliberated behind closed doors, Luthor hid the Trigger behind machine parts.
Owlman later figured out how to track it and sent Superwoman with her top Made Men to the Watchtower in search of it. While Superwoman dealt with Batman, Captain Super delivered the Quantum Trigger to Owlman. Once he located Earth Prime and armed the QED with the Trigger, he teleported there and almost accomplished his insane plot. Batman managed to teleport them to an uninhabited frozen Earth where the explosion wouldn't affect any other realities.
