Alexander Luthor immersed himself in scientific research and created many advanced technologies. Luthor garnered acclaim by the public for his accomplishments. The tyranny of the Crime Syndicate inspired Luthor to become a superhero. He crafted a power suit that gifted him with flight, enhanced strength, emit energy blasts, and semi-automatic force field generation. It also contained a miniature computer on one of his gauntlets and also hidden compartments. However, one hero wasn't enough. He founded the Justice League to oppose the Syndicate. Over time, its members were systematically murdered by their enemies until only Luthor and the Jester were left. All the while, Luthor continued his research and overcame the decoherence problem to prove the existence of the Multiverse and a Transit Device to allow travel through it to parallel Earths.

Luthor and the Jester mounted a daring break-in to steal the Quantum Trigger from the Crime Syndicate and stall their Project Damocles. J'edd J'arkus and Angelique gave chase. The Jester sacrificed himself to allow Luthor to safely escape. However, he ran right into the other five family heads of the Crime Syndicate. Luckily, Luthor activated his Transit Device and teleported away to a parallel Earth before they could kill him. He arrived in Metropolis and promptly headed to the nearest police station to engineer a way to contact the Justice League. As a gesture of his good will, Luthor removed his power suit and awaited the League, albeit naked. Before he could even speak, Superman confirmed he was from a parallel Earth when X-Ray vision revealed his internal organs were reversed compared to his own.

On the Watchtower, Luthor told his tale to the Justice League and asked for their help to save his Earth. As the League made their decision, Luthor secretly hid the Quantum Trigger amid some idle parts. With five new allies, Luthor teleported back to the Justice League's floating base only to encounter Owlman, Superwoman, and several Made Men. Alarmed by Superwoman's summoning, Luthor motioned the League to form an escape before her top lieutenants arrived. After successfully escaping, Luthor presented a plan to attack specific Crime Syndicate operations, one at a time. Superman objected and suggested multiple attacks in teams of two. Superman and Luthor went after Ultraman. Instead, they faced his first lieutenant, Mr. Action. Once Superman got Action into a hold, Luthor activated Action's Signal Watch. Soon enough, Ultraman arrived. Despite the power difference, Luthor declined Superman's aid as the only effective outcome would be for he alone to defeat Ultraman rather than an outsider.

In the midst of battle, he revealed a sample of Blue Kryptonite, Ultraman's only weakness. The tide turned and Luthor defeated Ultraman, gaining the praise of bystanders. His actions attracted the attention of United States President, Slade Wilson. Wilson was interested in preserving his fragile peace much to Luthor's disdain. He refused to back down from his current plan and walked out on Wilson. Luthor was soon enough met with another frustrated ally, Batman. Angered he hid the Quantum Trigger on the Watchtower, Batman pressed him to know what its purpose was. With knowledge of the Crime Syndicate's secret base, they headed to the Moon. Luthor utilized a Multi-frequency band, encryption analyzer replicator pack to open the hangar bay to the base. Unable to override the countdown of the Quantum Eigenstate Device, Luthor could only watch as Owlman teleported away with it to destroy Earth Prime and the Multiverse. As Batman prepared himself for a decisive battle, Luthor locked in Owlman's carrier wave once Johnny Quick attained the right vibrational speed. With the rest of the Syndicate arrested and the QED safely detonated, Luthor's dream of a free Earth was realized.
