Hal Jordan followed in the footsteps of his father, Martin "The Flying Martini" Jordan as a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft. Jordan soon fell in love with his boss, Carol Ferris. Soon after, the Green Lantern known as Abin Sur crash landed on Earth with mortal wounds. Sur commanded his green power ring to seek out a man honest and fearless enough to succeed him. The ring found two candidates, Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan. Since Hal Jordan was closer in proximity, he was chosen. Jordan became the primary Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814 and quickly earned the friendship and admiration of his peers, including Sinestro, Hannu, Nautkeloi, and Tomar-Re.
Green Lantern joined several heroes to defeat Starro and form the Justice League. Years later, during the construction of the Watchtower, Green Lantern lent his expert energy construct skills to putting the finishing touches on its exterior. After hearing Alexander Luthor's plight against the Crime Syndicate, he was unsure if the Justice League were within jurisdiction to act. However, Superman and Wonder Woman argued otherwise. Upon teleporting to this Earth, Green Lantern fought one of Owlman's Made Men, Aurora, who had a similar power to generate constructs but she was far less experienced. He soon met a stronger opposition in the form of the Super's, who could destroy his constructs with their strength alone.
In a series of multiple attacks at several targets at the same time, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman destroyed a drug lab. While Wonder Woman fought another of the Made Men, Olympia, Lantern went in and destroyed the lab. Once the League discovered where the Crime Syndicate's secret base was, Green Lantern formed a giant bubble construct around everyone and flew them to the Moon. Once inside, Green Lantern met his match in Power Ring and they traded blow for blow.
