Officer Hanson is the security chief at Arkham Asylum. Batman suspected Clayface had attacked him and went to Arkham the next night. Hanson claimed Matt Hagen was a model inmate and no one escaped in months. Batman still wanted to see Clayface. Clayface feigned surprise at a visit from his most "persistent fan" and claimed he was in his cell since their last fight months ago. Hanson vouched for that. Batman asked for the security recordings from the previous night. Clayface attacked him again while he drove back to the city. He returned to Arkham and yanked Hanson off his chair. He demanded to know what he was thinking letting Clayface out to attack him. Hanson had no idea what he was talking about and pointed to the monitor. The feed of Clayface's cell showed it was empty but Hanson claimed he was seeing Clayface. Batman removed Hanson's earphone and Hanson was shocked to see Clayface was no longer in his cell. Robin put it on and saw Clayface trying to attack Batman from behind and threw out three Batarangs. Luckily, they missed Dr. Leland. Hanson and another guard took Emerson Mayfield into custody after Batman and Robin liberated the staff and defeated the freed inmates.
