General Vreeland is a U.S. Army General and father of Veronica Vreeland. After the murder of Mayor Hill, Batman took an impression of claw marks at his penthouse and compared them to claws in General Vreeland's 19th century Court of Owls collection at Vreeland Manor. General Vreeland entered with his gun drawn. Veronica Vreeland got him to stand down by reminding him of the time he saved them. The general was surprised Batman believed in the Court like him, as everyone else didn't. Batman countered there was some truth to any legend. The general relayed what he knew, including an encounter his own father had with a Talon, the assassins of the Court. He mused the stories was half the reason he went into the military, to be on guard to fight the enemy within. He recalled the Talon manual that was stolen during one of his daughter's degenerate parties. Batman managed to leave without either noticing.
Luckily, Deadman had been tailing Batman and noticed a Talon waiting outside in the brush. To Deadman's surprise, the Talon could see him and resisted possession. The Talon went into the manor and attacked General Vreeland. Batman later intervened and hailed Commissioner Gordon on comms to get an ambulance. Veronica Vreeland stayed by his side at the hospital for hours. He was in stable condition.
