The Wayne Enterprises Board voted to diversify its holdings. Bruce Wayne signed the contracts. One of the acquisitions was a Caribbean island resort. After four months of no criminal activity, Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake went to the resort for some "family time" on Alfred Pennyworth's suggestion. Drake had no issue with kicking back but Wayne hated it. While Drake checked in with Pennyworth over the phone, Wayne replayed news footage of their last night on the town during the Man-Bat rampage. Drake admitted he wasn't holding his breath the cure would finally take with Dr. Langstrom then he tossed his phone to Wayne, telling him Pennyworth says to relax and enjoy his holiday. Wayne replied he hated holidays. Drake thought that was hard to believe for a guy who owned the place. Wayne explained how it came to. Drake suggested hitting the beach and windsurfing. Wayne passed and surmised he would go to the gym. Drake pitched playing playboy and charming one of the women checking him out all week. He assured him once there was trouble at home, they would return right away.
Talia al Ghul disguised herself in kendo gear and forced Wayne into a match. He recognized her bold style and quickly surmised who she was. She shattered his bokken but he countered and hit her hood off. They retired to a bar near sunset. She noted crime was virtually extinct in Gotham and Batman was inactive so it seemed logical he was on holiday. Wayne inquired how she knew exactly where he was. She teased he should apply his detective skills to his business dealings, then revealed she knew a Wayne Enterprises shell company owned the resort but the al Ghul family owned the island it resided on. She joked the hotel staff contained almost no assassins and very few ninjas but he didn't laugh. She then revealed her father was not the same man as when they first met. He was more introspective and more appreciative of the time he had left. Wayne found it hard to believe. She invited him to come see for himself and told him to look for the family yacht, the biggest in the bay. That night, Drake declared the resort replaced the Batmobile as the coolest thing he ever saw.
Wayne surmised he might not keep the resort because the landlord might be a problem. Drake pointed out the resort had everything and you could even order s'mores from room service. Wayne announced he was going windsurfing. Drake pointed out it was 10 pm. Wayne retorted he could say the same about s'mores. Drake passed and took advantage of Max being available. Under the guise of windsurfing, Wayne performed reconnaissance but two guards on jet skis engaged him after he counted 14 total. They opened fire with laser guns. Wayne speculated the men acted on their own. He tackled one off his ski, took it over, and fired a flare into the other, detonating it. He hoped they could swim. Suddenly he was swallowed up, realizing Ra's's plan was to have the gunmen force him farther out to sea. He found himself in a submarine and was greeted by Talia al Ghul.
