Hours after a run-in with the Muscle, Bruce Wayne awoke in a room in the Gotham Hospital. He called out to Alfred Pennyworth but recoiled in pain. Pennyworth eased him back into his bed and explained he suffered a severe concussion and bullet wound in his shoulder. Wayne asked how he was. Pennyworth cited just a bump on his head. Renee Montoya assured Wayne she and her girlfriend Gloria Navarro were fine thanks his heroics. Wayne downplayed it and asked what happened. Montoya explained there were rumors of a fixer for hire on the level of Batman who made problems disappear if his price was met then informed him after he got between her and Muscle, she returned fire. Pennyworth added more police arrived so Muscle fled the scene. Montoya told Wayne she sent Navarro home with two of her best officers. Montoya got a call. She thought it was Navarro but it was the Muscle. He told her to follow his instructions if she wanted to see Navarro alive again. Montoya simply told Wayne something came up and left. She asked Elkins, the officer stationed outside the hospital, for his squad car to deal with an emergency. He obliged and offered his help but she declined.
Wayne watched Montoya from his window and deduced Muscle got to her. He got dressed. Pennyworth stressed his doctor said he needed rest. Wayne asked him how he got to the hospital. Pennyworth revealed he borrowed the Lamborghini since the limousine was totaled in the incident. Wayne ordered him to pick up him front. Pennyworth insisted things would not go well if the doctor saw him. Wayne retorted he wouldn't if he drove fast. After the Muscle was defeated and Navarro was rescued, Wayne returned to his hospital room. Montoya was none the wiser and returned with Navarro. Wayne played along and noted it sounded she took an awful chance going without backup. Montoya admitted that while it cost a badge, it was worth it. She talked about how she outsmarted the Muscle and tricked him into shooting the first thing he saw. Navarro teased it was a trick inspired by Batman. Montoya stated a good idea was a good idea and admitted she was grateful for Batman helping her. Navarro noted it was a shame Batman wasn't around when Wayne got shot. Pennyworth agreed but gathered Batman can't be everywhere.
