During Emerson Mayfield's new run for mayor of Gotham City, Riddler was incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. On Election Day, Riddler was one of the inmates freed by Mad Hatter and Mayfield. Mayfield promised them pardons if they killed Batman for him. Riddler asked if the mayor's office had the power to do that. Mayfield was amused, thinking it was another of his riddles. Riddler clarified he wanted to make sure Mayfield would keep his promise for once. Robin later tricked Riddler into hitting Two-Face with his question mark cane. Robin took him out then used the cane on Scarecrow.
