Alfred Yankovic was born on October 23, 1959 in Downey, California in the town of Lynwood to Nick Louis and Mary Elizabeth Yankovic. From a young age, Yankovic was interested in music when his parents had him take accordion lessons. His first big break came when his work was played on the Dr. Demento Radio Show. Yankovic went on to major in architecture at California Polytechnic State University and was nicknamed "Weird Al" by his classmates and friends. He made it his professional name and went on tour with Dr. Demento's stage show. While in Phoenix, Azrizona, Yankovic met Jay Levey, a manager, and formed a full band. They first performed on March 31, 1982 as an opening act for Missing Persons.

Weird Al Yankovic rose to fame when he began to parody popular songs, reinterpret songs in the form of polka, and release music videos of these satire. While performing a sold out concert at a music hall, Weird Al Yankovic was kidnapped by the Footlight Phantom, a gruesome ghost that haunts the old theater. Yankovic slid down a secret trap door into an old elevator shaft. He was saved from the horrific fall by landing on a cache of stolen money hid by the late gangster, Bennie Bodog Benson. Yankovic emerged from the shaft and helped Mystery Incorporated, Batman, and Robin capture the Joker. He proposed to use the money to turn the music hall into the Polka and Novelty Song Hall of Fame. Batman noted Bruce Wayne was also a polka fan and would surely match the amount of stolen money to help out.
