Somewhere on the backside of the Milky Way Galaxy, there lives a race of beings known as the Gibbles. From human standards, they resemble amoeba the size of a small child. Completely sentient, the Gibbles were a peaceful race until they were routinely attacked and harvested by the space pirate, Kanjar-Ro. The Gibble physiology is sustained by an unexplained energy that Kanjar-Ro discovered he could use to fuel his armada.
The Blue Beetle defended the Gibbles and fought off Kanjar-Ro. Over time, the Gibbles became dependant on Blue Beetle for military power and idolized him as a demigod. When he was killed, the Gibbles were defenseless again. A stroke of luck occurred when the Blue Beetle Scarab, now in Jaime Reyes' possession, detected Kanjar-Ro's fleet and teleported the new Blue Beetle and Batman to the Gibble homeworld. Thanks to some careful oration, the two were able to empower the aliens and convince them to learn to fight for themselves and rescue their comrades. In recognition, the Gibbles erected a statue of Batman, next to their first of Blue Beetle.
