The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region began as a trading port on the south coast of China. From 1842-1997, Hong Kong was a colony of England. Even after Hong Kong was absorbed back into China rule, it has held onto its independant government. This is often referred to as the "one country, two systems" policy. Overall, Hong Kong is a major center for global business and financial activity.
Three months after Gentleman Ghost tried to destroy London, Batman went to Hong Kong to confront a branch of the Triad. Batman and Deadman fought off the unit.
Hong Kong later became the target of the Shadow Clan and the Terrible Trio. In their mutated states, they would have taken over the country but Batman and Bronze Tiger fought them off.
