Appearing in Alfred Pennyworth's detective story, "The Knights of Tomorrow!", the Batman Museum was opened during Dick Grayson's time as Batman. It was Gotham City's recognition for the original Batman's exploits and legacy. It housed the Robot Dinosaur, Giant Penny, Batmobiles, Batplane, Batsuits, portraits of supervillains such as Joker, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze, weapons, a statue of Catwoman, and the Hall of Holyisms, dedicated to the first Robin's various quips.

The gala opening was attended by the Wayne Family; Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle-Wayne, and Damian Wayne. However, the opening was disrupted by a new Joker. The second Batman arrived but failed to capture him. The museum was crippled by several explosives. Bruce and Selina Wayne died after being buried in debris, part of the Joker's plan to kill all Batmen.
