An entrepreneur named David Jin came up with the idea for the Grand Canyon Skywalk as a tourist attraction for the Hualapai Nation of Native Americans. A see-through platform would extend out over the Grand Canyon. Architect Mark Ross Johnson was brought in to consult on the Skywalk. $31 million later, a U-Shaped 70 foot, 1,000,000 pound glass walkway was completed amid controversy for environmental impact and the desecration of sacred ground. It stands 3600 feet above the floor of the Grand Canyon. The Skywalk was unveiled on March 20,2007 and open for business on the 28th. It can be visited through either Arizona's Grand Canyon West Airport or driving from Las Vegas, Nevada.

In order to protect the Skywalk and its visitors, objects such as cameras or cell phones are restricted and must be stored in free lockers, while employed photographers take photos for a small fee. There are future plans for the Skywalk, including a gift shop, museum, restaurant, and movie theater, and develop a complex around it with a hotel, golf course, and ferry ride. Aquaman and his family recently visited the Skywalk and became a spectacle themselves.
