Anthro was the first Cro-Magnon man and served as chief of the Bear Tribe during the Stone Age after his father Ne-Ahn, a Neanderthal. He constantly searched for new ways to ensure his tribe's survival, including battles with the Blood Tribe and Kru'll the Eternal. Anthro was famous among his people for being a skilled hunter and compassionate teacher. Many admired him as the first hero of Earth. Anthro took on two Cro-Magnon wives, Embra and Nima, and raised one child with the former. While Kru'll terrorized several people, Anthro appeared atop a Wholly Mammoth and defeated the villain.
