Lymphocytes are white blood cells that are found in the vertebrate immune system. As a result, they play a large role in the body's defense against pathogens. Lymphocytes can be divided into three main types: the Natural Killer, the T Cell, and the B Cell. As part of the process of adaptive immune response, the B Cells oversee humoral immunity and create antibodies to destroy pathogens. T Cells produce cytokines that direct the remainder of the process. Natural Killer Cells can infected cells and destroy them.
When Batman was infected with phylosilicates, the Atom and Aquaman journeyed inside to save him. Aquaman used his telepathy to summon aid. A lymphocyte arrived and transported the duo to safety. Aquaman named it Platelet and fashioned it as a trusty steed. The Atom, on the other hand, noted it was most likely tagging Aquaman as a pathogen. In any case, the two realized it was true hero for helping them confront the phylosilicates. In the final showdown, Platelet was destroyed prompting the Atom to have a momentary lapse in judgement and attack everything with brute force. After they took a moment of silence in memory of Platelet, they exited Batman through his tear ducts.
