Waylon Jones was born with a rare disease that caused him to transform more and more into a crocodile. Jones' mother died in childbirth, his father left him, and was raised with an abusive aunt in northern Florida. He was constantly teased and eventually killed one of his tormentors. After almost 20 years in prison, Croc was released and got a job as an alligator wrestler for a traveling circus. At this time, Jones went by the name of Killer Croc and discovered he had super strength. Killer Croc turned to a life of crime and sought to become the top Gotham City mob boss. During a temporary absence of Batman, Croc teamed up with Bane, Blockbuster, and Solomon Grundy to steal a gold statue. He was defeated by Captain Marvel, who was disguised as Batman.
