Mark Desmond was evil genuis and fellow classmate of Billy Batson. Determined to gain the super strength to match his intelligence, Desmond stole chemicals from Star Labs. While on a field trip to a museum, he coveted the Star of Bionya diamond and ingested the chemicals without regard to the side effect. Transformed into a superman, Desmond announced he was now Blockbuster with super strength and endurance but the tradeoff was he lost his mental capacity. Batman and Captain Marvel teamed up to defeat him.
