King Tut stole several Egyptian artifacts on display outside the Gotham Museum. Redbird snagged him with Bat Rope but Kitty wanted to help. Instead, she brought a pillar down on the Bat Rope and Tut got free and fled to his lair. Tut combined the artifacts and completed the Staff of Serpents. He placed it in the altar of his ancient pyramid and unlocked the staff's power. Several asps paintings were animated and turned into physical entities that listened to Tut's will. Kitty and Redbird later stole the staff and Tut gave chase in his car. Tut was surprised a "bird and cat" were working together. They sent the asps after Tut then separated the staff. The asps all vanished. Redbird cuffed Tut and the police were summoned.
