The Halfinator is a device capable of separating things. Dent broke into S.T.A.R. Labs and stole it. Next, he proceeded to steal the Twin Diamonds from the Gotham Diamond Exchange and Gotham Art Museum in order to power it. His plan was to split himself into two separate cars so they could steal twice as much stuff. The dented side held onto the Halfinator during their crime spree. The Batwheels caught both cars and merged them back into one car with the Halfinator.
