King Tut stole pieces of the Staff of Serpents from the Gotham Museum and completed them then placed it in the altar of his ancient pyramid and unlocked the staff's power. Several asps paintings were animated and turned into physical entities that listened to Tut's will. The asps chased after Kitty and Redbird but were slowed down by them knocking a lot of the architecture down near them. They later stole the staff and Tut gave chase in his car. Tut was surprised a "bird and cat" were working together. They sent the asps after Tut then separated the staff. The asps all vanished.
