Barbara Gordon is a native of Chicago and is the wife of Lieutenant James Gordon. She desired to have a child, more so than Gordon. On January 4th, she arrived in Gotham by an airplane flight and learned she was pregnant. On September 25th, after a routine exam, she accompanied Gordon to interview Bruce Wayne. She was excited to meet Wayne, having heard he was charming. However, she was disgusted by Wayne who was acting to throw off a theory he was Batman. Before leaving Wayne Manor, Gordon came clean he was having an affair with Detective Essen. The affair took its toll on the marriage but on October 12th, James Gordon Jr. was born.
Barbara Gordon and Jr. were kidnapped by Johnny Vitti, nephew of crime boss Carmine Falcone in an attempt to silence Gordon once and for all. Gordon knew their lives were at stake and shot her captors. Vitti, however, escaped with Jr. and Gordon quickly commandeered a motorcycle. She aimed a gun at the motorcyclist, who was Bruce Wayne, but he promised to help. Barbara Gordon called Sergeant Merkel and took a taxi. She caught up to see the motorcyclist hand Jr. back to Gordon.
