The East End is a district of Gotham City. The 20 block walk entails what is essentially Gotham City's red light district, a zone where prostitution, strip clubs, and other sex-oriented businesses thrive. On March 11th, Bruce Wayne went on a reconnaissance mission to the East End. Wearing a specific set of clothes and a fake scar, Wayne walked the streets without being recognized. However, he was solicited by Holly and her pimp Stan mistook him for an undercover police officer. A fight followed and Wayne was shot by a police officer. Wayne returned to the East End as Batman and concentrated his patrols there. Batman later confronted the Gotham City Police's S.W.A.T. teams in the East End at an abandoned tenement on Robinson Park. He escaped after summoning a colony of bats into the area.
