Albert Blume was once a patient at Arkham Asylum. He was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic but lacked a criminal record. Blume was released from Arkham but several weeks later, on April 4th, he held four children hostage in midtown Gotham City on Richmond and Todd. Lieutenant Gordon went into the apartment unarmed to negotiate with Blume. When Blume was distracted by a cat, Gordon disarmed and neutralized Blume. Gordon was hailed as a hero by the press.
