Barry Vance was one of the Joker's test subjects for his toxin. After observing Vance's death, he declared it was perfect. His corpse was deposited into a body of water. Over six months later, the body was found. Barbara Gordon's business card was found in his belongings. She was summoned to the Gotham Morgue. After 9:30 pm, she met with the medical examiner and was warned the corpse was "not pretty." She identified him as Barry Vance. The medical examiner confirmed he was dead for over six months per their initial tests. Gordon recognized his face was fixed in a horrible grin like the recently deceased Hattie Tetch. The examiner admitted she never saw anything like it. Gordon asked her to pass the information along to the police medical examiner. She agreed to call it in as soon as she finished the exam.
