Eddie Nygma went to Professor Strange in search of a way to kill Julian Gregory before he testified against Rupert Thorne in court. Strange noted what he made was expensive more so to make it untraceable. Strange gave him some of his Blockbuster serum, promising it took power, strength, and aggression beyond human limits. When Nygma brought up payment, Strange told him to consider it a field test since he was interested in the results of human trials since Batman provided an interesting environmental hurdle to him. Nygma injected it into one of his men, Mark Desmond, and he was transformed into a super strong brute. Some time later, Joker killed Strange with his Joker toxin and stole all of Strange's Blockbuster serum.
