Solaris, the Tyrant Sun, is a living solar computer from the future. It is said he eventually reforms and becomes part of the intersolar computer network in the 24th century. In the 21st century, he is power hungry and insane. Solaris follows a method of poisoning healthy stars in order to make them emit blue light that he can metabolize.
Solaris became Lex Luthor's secret ally and hid in the Sun, slowly turning it red to ensure Luthor's domination of Earth. He also invaded the neural net, overrode Robot 7, and stole the formula of the Super Serum for Luthor. However, he always planned on double-crossing Luthor and poisoned the Sun blue. Solaris wanted to replace it and be worshipped by mankind as a god. Superman advised the Superman Robots to listen on the 430 Terra Hertz wavelength to hear Solaris. Together, they flew into space and fought the Tyrant Sun. All of the Superman Robots perished but Robot 7 was able to rip off a chunk and expose vital circuitry. Superman's Sun-Eater also joined the battle but was murdered. In a rage, Superman tore through Solaris and forced him to crash land in Metropolis. Superman dealt a final blow to render Solaris inert.
