Tim Drake is one of Batman's proteges after Dick Grayson became Nightwing and after the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd. Unlike Grayson, Drake is an extremely serious student of the heroic arts. He still lacks confidence but as a natural leader, Drake is determined to prove himself. He became Robin at the start of Team Year Five. He later joined the Team and was assigned the designation B-20. His weapon of choice is a collapsible bo staff with a taser option. On February 17th, Team Year Five, Robin reported to Mount Justice to take part in the search for Dr. Sandsmark. On December 1st, Robin was present for a mission briefing at Mount Justice but had to return to Gotham City to patrol with Batman. At 16:57 Eastern Standard Time (EST), Batman and Robin received an update on the Metropolis crises from Red Tornado then continued with their investigation.

On January 1st, Team Year Six, Robin was assigned to Delta Squad and distracted Clayface during a mission while Superboy administered a special pill that immobilized him. On January 4th, Nightwing gave Robin his first assignment as a field leader under orders to not take unnecessary risks. Robin's debut proved fruitful as Gamma Squad captured a Krolotean, freed several human prisoners, and escaped the destruction of the Krolotean's New Orleans base. Robin participated in the Malina Island raid on January 6th and was present when some of the Justice League departed for Rimbor on January 26th. On February 28th, Robin met Impulse along with Nightwing and Beast Boy. On March 30th, Drake and Barbara Gordon infiltrated a prison of kidnapped teenagers in Star City. Bumblebee hid in Drake's jacket. They blended in and were transported to the Reach Ship with no question. Drake and Gordon then proceeded to free several kidnapped teenagers.

On April 8th, 09:02 EDT, Robin learned he would lead Alpha Squad on a mission to covertly investigate LexCorp Farms' new partnership with the Reach. Several samples of Reach-enhanced produce and alien additive were retrieved but Arsenal went off mission and blew up a laboratory. In a losing battle against Black Beetle, Robin was prepared for the worst but they were saved by the intervention of Green Beetle of Mars. Robin conveyed the samples to Nightwing and only reported some difficulty with Arsenal. On May 26th, Robin was assigned to Delta Squad with Batgirl. They manned the Bio-Ship and provided cover fire for Captain Atom, Captain Marvel, and Green Beetle. On June 14th, Robin was part of squad that provided support to Batgirl, Impulse, Rocket, and Zatanna against Green Beetle during a Bialyan operation. On June 19th, Robin took part in the Santa Prisca mission. He took the place of a League of Shadows soldier along with Impulse and Wonder Girl. On June 20th, Robin was assigned to Tau Squad with Wonder Girl for the attacks on the Magnetic Field Disrupters. Due to the possibility of Earth being destroyed, Wonder Girl summoned up the courage to kiss Robin. They started dating after the crisis passed but kept it secret at first. He attended Wally West's funeral.

In January Team Year Eight, Robin helped defuse the Joker's explosives in the United Nations General Assembly. After Batgirl took a sword strike to the spine, the Joker was beaten senseless by Robin, Spoiler, and Batwoman. Robin later joined with a secret group consisting of leading members of the Justice League and the Team to solely focus on defeating the Light. On July 27th, 19:57, Robin was one of the proteges who left the Team and joined Batman's covert team in protest of increasing United Nations regulations. Wonder Girl was left confused as to what was going on. He was assigned the hacked designation Z-07. On August 4th, 12:33 EDT, Wonder Girl and Robin argued over the phone about her not being told about the walk out prior to it happening. On September 12th, 21:39 EDT, Robin led a squad monitoring Mad Hatter in Gotham City. Spoiler noticed he was hatless. Robin revealed that was a condition of his parole. Spoiler noted he was heading to his night job right on schedule and he was drinking a lot of water.

Robin agreed he was drinking it awfully fast. After Hatter threw the bottle away and left, Robin grabbed it and noticed clay backwash. He deduced it was really Clayface but stated they needed to find a way to check. He asked where Orphan was. Orphan suddenly sliced Hatter in half to confirm it was Clayface. They fought. Robin threw out three smoke balls. Arrowette questioned if Clayface and Hatter were allies. Robin answered they were not and concluded Hatter was probably controlling him. Spoiler got an idea and yelled loud enough that they should go to Hatter's location. Clayface fell for it and retreated. Spoiler slipped a liquid tracer on him and led them straight to Hatter's base. They learned Hatter was using nano-technology to force meta-humans to work for Branchwater Security. Robin ordered Arrowette and Orphan to run interference on Clayface and for Spoiler to go after Hatter. Robin discovered a control device and took it then discovered Hatter rigged the building to explode.

They cleared the building just as the self-destruct sequence ended but Clayface's nano-technology programming prevented him from leaving. He was gathered up and placed in a pod. Robin used the device and issued a final command, he was forever released from all external mental control of his actions. It worked and Clayface thanked him. On September 26th, 02:24 EDT, the secret group met in the Batcave to discuss their role in dismantling Branchwater Security. Only Wonder Woman objected to lying to their teammates. Batman pointed out she agreed to take a page from the Light's own playbook and Robin added they were kind of the "Anti-Light." On November 22nd, 15:02 EST, Cassie Sandsmark visited Tim Drake in Gotham City in an attempt to repair their strained relationship. On December 8th, 00:01 EST, the secret group met in the Batcave to discuss the Outsiders' first mission. Robin salvaged M.O.N.Q.I.s and an Ivo android from one of Professor Ivo's bases, repaired them, and they were used in Dublin to manipulate the Outsiders into destroying one of Lexcorp's secret robotics factories. Robin remotely controlled the M.O.N.Q.I.s.

On January 1st, 21:10 EST, Team Year Nine, the secret group met to discuss Dublin. Once again, Wonder Woman was the lone voice of dissent. On January 21st, Batman and Robin went on a mission in Africa. On January 22nd, 02:21 PST, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, Barbara Gordon, and Tim Drake went to the Premiere Building in Hollywood to visit the ailing Dick Grayson, still suffering from being exposed to Gretchen Goode's X-Pit for nearly 24 hours. Jefferson Pierce realized they working together in secret and was furious. Garfield Logan then confronted Gordon and Drake about their actions. He noted this revelation would probably be the end of Drake and Sandsmark's relationship. Drake didn't even react. To make matters worse, Tara and Brion Markov returned with news that Dr. Jace betrayed them and turned Violet Harper over to Goode and Ultra-Humanite. On February 15th, 18:35 EST, Robin was in the Batcave watching the joint Team-Outsiders mission in Markovia. On February 24th, 19:00 EST, Robin was present on the Watchtower for the meeting between the Justice League, Team, Outsiders, and Batman and Nightwing's covert teams.

Black Lightning accepted the nomination to be the next leader of the League on the conditions there would be no more secret coordinating and for the two covert teams to be folded back into the League and Team. Robin returned to the Team but broke up with Wonder Girl. At some point in Team Year Nine, he joined the Outsiders and was given the designation D-12. He remembered that the original Robin had been a public hero and thought it would be a good idea for Robin to go public again. On February 24th, Team Year Ten, Robin was part of an Outsiders mission that stopped the Kobra Cult from broadcasting a brainwashing signal. On April 19th, 12:17 PDT, Robin zetaed to the Hub for an Outsiders mission to respond the Hurricane Amy. On April 20th, Batman, Batwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Spoiler were preoccupied with a turf war between Penguin and Two-Face. On September 16th, Robin attended Conner Kent and M'gann M'orzz's wedding in Happy Harbor and sat with Spoiler.

On November 10th, 03:10 CET, Wonder Girl hailed Raptor Squad in Paris. Robin reported he, El Dorado, and Looker were closing in on their target, Joe Henchy, in relation to the kidnapping of Queen Perdita Vladek. On November 10th, 05:59 CET, Henchy was on the run from Robin cursing his predicament. El Dorado teleported in front of Henchy and found his "Bat-Brat" comment rude but him running away even ruder. Dorado teleported in front of him again and called it borderline disrespectful. Robin snagged him and yanked him to the ground then gave Looker her cue. She used her telepathy while he protested. Dorado commented he was still very rude. She only discovered Henchy had nothing to do with Count Vertigo's escape or Queen Perdita's kidnapping. Dorado let him go and he ran off. Later that night, Nightwing hailed the rest of the Bat Family and asked for help in figuring out whose technology was used for a robot involved in Queen Perdita's kidnapping and Count Vertigo's escape. Robin and Oracle searched for a match. Robin determined the robot contained proprietary technology common to Lex Luthor's Spider-Bots.

On November 11th, 12:06 PST, a conference call was held between Wonder Girl, Beast Boy, Nightwing, Oracle, Robin, and Cyborg to discuss the motive behind Queen Vladek's kidnapping: the Vlatavan National Mining Company in Krastmala discovered something, kept it secret, took the discovery directly to Queen Vladek, and she contacted Green Arrow and Black Canary seeking help with setting up transfer of it to Dr. Serling Roquette in S.T.A.R. Labs in Star City. Beast Boy wondered why Vladek didn't come to him. Wonder Girl pointed out he was her ex. Robin awkwardly transitioned to the transfer and noted Vladek and Roquette even bought identical purses to facilitate the exchange. Beast Boy presumed the intel was leaked to Count Vertigo. Robin stated it was not a Vertigo operation despite his escape.
