John Stewart is one of the Green Lanterns originating from Earth chosen to serve in the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping order. Like each Lantern, Stewart wears a power ring that gives him various powers but primarily to create a hard light construct of anything he can imagine. He is also a member of the Justice League. Stewart was seen in Jump City during Robin and Cyborg's Real Boy Adventure song. While telling a bunch of fake origin stories, Beast Boy claimed he was a fake boy hologram from Green Lantern's ring. Green Lantern was hiding behind a potted plant and recalled Beast Boy to his ring while laughing at the scope of his ruse. Stewart participated in the Justice League's Next Top Talent Idol Star: Second Greatest Team Edition competition with Kilowog, Hal Jordan, and Tomar-Re, representing the Green Lantern Corps. Tomar-Re kept making odd instruments, like a bag pipe, when the others planned to play rock. They lost. Stewart was left outside the theater alone.

Green Lantern was one of many heroes turned into a collectible by Toy Master's curse. In a battle between Robin and Toy Master, collectibles of Lantern and Cyborg were forced to fight. Lantern easily won by making a mace construct and bashing Cyborg. Robin retaliated with Starfire's Kitten Cannon and took Lantern out. After Toy Master was defeated, he returned to normal. The Justice League happened to be flying past Mars in the Invisible Jet and saw De La Soul defeat a monster. They were impressed and invited them to join. Stewart excitedly waved at them.
