The Legion of Doom is a group of supervillains led by Lex Luthor. Their base of operations is the Hall of Doom, which is usually hidden in a swamp. The Legion's main goal is world domination. However, they are routinely defeated by the Justice League of America.
Luthor, already in possession of real estate, came up with a plan to use five satellites built by Captain Cold to set a cataclysmic change to the planet. By swelling up the world's glaciers, water levels would shrink and expand coastlines of every continent. Thus, the Legion would rule in a new world order. As soon as the satellites were activated, the Justice League arrived to stop them. Superman, Cyborg, Batman and Robin headed into space to disable the satellites while the Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman attempted to take the controls away from Luthor. As the battle turned in the League's favor, Captain Cold overloaded the last satellite. The beam became unstable and sealed Luthor in ice. Without their leader, the Legion dissolved. In the 31st Century, Luthor was freed by mistake. He used the Eternity Glass to travel back in time to when he was frozen. Gorilla Grodd, Black Manta, and Captain Cold were occupied with searching for the Luthor of the present timeline.
The remaining members of the Legion fell in line and aided Luthor in a plan to erase Superman and the rest of the Justice League from existence. The Legion went into the past and launched an infant Kal-El back into space so that he would never become Superman. As a result, the Justice League ceased to be. The Legion of Doom rampaged across the planet unchecked. Karate Kid and Dawnstar came up with a plan to erase the Luthor from the future by awakening the Luthor from the present. They ran into Grodd's party and freed Luthor. As a result, the Time Trapper erased future Luthor and initiated its own plan to remake the world. The Justice League returned and with Karate Kid and Dawnstar saved the world. Superman then hauled off Luthor to Blackgate Prison. Grodd assumed leadership and vowed to regroup with the rest of the Legion and take revenge against the League.
